Love is Blind- the third and latest venture in Miami by the Passion Restaurant Group. It joins their existing restaurants, Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita and Crazy About You. The location couldn’t be better; in Coral Gables right next to Merrick Park! The venue itself is impressive. Adorned with lamps, candles, unique chandeliers, sayings on the walls and ceilings, and even (strangely) a mannequin posing as a DJ at the entrance.
Love is Blind has a great atmosphere for a date, family gathering or a girls’ dinner. That night I was there for a girls’ dinner to celebrate a couple of our birthdays 🙂 Their menu has plenty of options and each main course comes with an appetizer. Also, they have a $5 glass of house wine and you can get a whole bottle of wine for $15 (however, to share the bottle they charge an extra $10).
First, I tried the caprese martini– a play on the traditional caprese salad with baby heirloom tomatoes, pearl mozzarella, extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. I highly recommend getting this appetizer!!
Pictured above are their special croquetas. They’re actually called- Maybe the Best Serrano Ham Croquettes You Have Ever Tasted. I’m not lying, it’s on their menu! They were very good, but probably not the best I’ve ever had.
For my appetizer, I chose the baby spinach and quinoa salad. It has strawberries, avocado, queso fresco and is served with a toasted sesame vinaigrette. Overall, it was OK, but it’s misleading because, as you can see, it’s mostly spinach with a little splash of quinoa. Instead of the dressing that came with it I actually added balsamic vinegar to the salad since it pairs well with strawberries.
For the main course I ordered beef tenderloin carpaccio with truffle oil, corn, arugula and avocado. Also a good choice; nice and light. The only confusing ingredient was the corn. However, I must say, it didn’t conflict with the carpaccio or the other ingredients.
One of my friends ordered the “I Can’t Believe it’s not Pasta”– which is zucchini linguini topped with salmon, leeks and grey goose vodka cream sauce. But, instead of the salmon she ordered it with chicken. I didn’t try this dish but she really liked it and highly recommended it. So here’s a picture in case you are curious 🙂
