The first time I went to Khong River House it definitely exceeded my expectations. Months after our first meal there we decided to go back because of how memorable it was. This time, it was much easier to get a reservation and I noticed it wasn’t as busy and crowded. It seems the hype has settled a bit. Another difference was the menu. On first glance, it didn’t excite me much but as I kept looking at it and speaking with the waitress about it, they have actually added a lot more variety. However, I was here for a curry and they have 3 to choose from.
We ordered the Massaman Short Rib Curry and the Cambodian Yellow Curry with chicken. Both curries were amazing. The Massaman Short rib curry was on the sweeter side and the short rib was so soft I could manage breaking off some pieces with my ckopsticks. The yellow curry was spicier but well rounded also. The chicken was so tender and I ate every last piece 🙂
I had the yellow curry with a glass of their house Pinot Gris which was nice and crisp. Usually I would’ve opted for a riesling with spicy thai food but I’m glad I went with their Pinot Gris.
