The holidays have been great to me. I really can’t complain. Spent some time in Las Vegas, then a week in Southern California with my family and spent my last day on the West Coast in Los Angeles with an old friend. In LA, we ended up walking around the downtown arts district strolling in and out of unique stores and passing by painted murals. After a nice meal at Urth Caffe, we stumbled upon The Pie Hole.
The Pie Hole makes both sweet and savory pies. They even had Star Wars inspired pies on the menu. It was definitely hard to choose among the amazing sweet flavors like Salted Caramel Pecan, Chocolate Crostata w/ Caramel & Sea Salt, Strawberry Lavender Hand Pie, Mexican Chocolate, and even Earl Grey to name a few. If I hadn’t already eaten dinner the savory pies would’ve tempted me too.
They also make breakfast savory pies like their Pork Chorizo, Cheddar, Hash brown Hand Pie. And for my fellow coffee lovers, you’d appreciate that they have their very own brand of premium selection of Fair Trade Organic coffee beans. So really, you can come here for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert!
The small eatery was packed with a line that extended to the door. I knew we were onto something great. The good news was, that although the line was long, it moved quickly. In just a few minutes we were already ordering our slice of “Mom’s Apple Crumble” with a side of their homemade whipped cream. We ordered it warm, of course, and it was amazing! The crust was perfection and plenty of it which I like! The edges of the crust were my favorite part. The whipped cream was also surprisingly rich, smooth and tasty and the perfect balance to the apple filling. All in all, it was a great send-off and last sweet treat of my vacation.
